I received an e-mail today from Redbubble saying they “received a complaint from Bravado International Group Merchandising Services Inc”, essentially saying that this particular group owns the right to the original picture that I m.s. painted.
This brings a few things to my mind. The foremost being that I completely fucking forgot that I even had a Redbubble account. To be quite frank, I don’t even know what one really does with said account. Knowing me, I am pretty certain I signed up, put a bunch of m.s. paint crap on there and washed my hands of the whole thing. According to this e-mail, not only has my picture been removed but in order for it to be re-posted I would have to get permission from the owner, write a description of the picture, include my contact information, and give my consent to the jurisdiction of Federal District Court that I will accept service of process from the complainant. Whatever the fuck that means.
Imagine this. A corporate suit type taking a break from watching hardcore pornography to scour the internet for copyright infringement on his company’s goddamn daft punk picture that belongs to them and no one else and he will bring the federal jurisdiction down upon any peasant who dares gets their grubby little fingers on anything resembling THEIR things. He is on a fucking mission, and Xenu help you if you stand in his way. Then, he sees it. An absolute m.s. paint masterpiece that is a replication of THAT WHICH HE AND HIS AFFILIATES OWN. THIS CAN NOT BE. Primal rage sets in, and withing seconds he has pound-typed an e-mail complaining, nay, COMMANDING redbubble to right this wrong. His duty has been done, he has served his masters well. Once again, the internet is safe from m.s. paint fan art.
OR IS IT?????????
